Shelly Biby has spent her professional career serving children and communities in need. Her experiences have taken her in and out of the classroom, where she has gained valuable knowledge about educational best practices, innovative teaching strategies for a 21st-century education, and building strategic and results-oriented non-profit programming.

Dr. Danis’ service as a teacher, staff developer, school principal, curriculum director, foundation executive, university dean, and non-profit leader is fueled by his abiding belief in the power of public education to transform lives.He continues to empower educators, policymakers, and community members with the knowledge and resources necessary to ensure that all children, especially those who face obstacles, have access the education they deserve and the experiences necessary to thrive.
OTEIA DOUGLAS
Career Pathways Advisor, Garinger High School
Oteia brings over 15 years of experience working with high school students within the Charlotte Mecklenburg School District. As a Career Pathways Advisor, she is focused on ensuring the success of students at Garinger High School. In the past, Ms. Douglas has served as Job Coordinator Assistant and worked as a community-based training and work performance evaluator for students.

Career Pathways Coordinator & Interim Advisor, Vance High School
Prior to serving as MeckEd’s Career Pathways Coordinator, Omar spent almost a decade helping young people realize their dreams through his work with ResCare Workforce Services. As MeckEd’s Career Pathways Coordinator, Omar applies his experience and demonstrates his commitment to ensuring that all Charlotte Mecklenburg high school students find and stay on a path to a bright future.
ASHTON GLENN
Career Pathways Advisor, Harding University High School
Ashton Glenn is MeckEd’s Career Pathways Advisor committed to ensuring the success of students at Harding University High School. Prior to joining MeckEd, Ashton served as an advocate for youth in the region and has worked as an educator, coach, and mentor in Charlotte Mecklenburg and Gaston County Schools.
CRYSTAL POPE
Career Pathways Advisor, West Charlotte High School
Crystal’s journey working with youth started at Mecklenburg County Courts as a Juvenile Clerk aiding District Court Judges. Prior to serving as MeckEd’s Career Pathways Advisor at West Charlotte High School, Crystal served as a Juvenile Rehabilitation Counselor. She is committed to ensuring that all students have access to opportunity and are on a path to a bright future.
ANISA SMITH
Director of Career Pathways
Anisa Smith has over 10 years’ experience working with youth in various settings across the country, including as the assistant director for the United States Army Child Development Centers. As the director of MeckEd’s Career Pathways program, Anisa is committed to transforming the lives of young people who face obstacles that limit their access to opportunity.
