New Leaders for New Schools

Based out of New York City, New Leaders for New Schools aims to create a pipeline of leaders to become principals through a rigorous year-long nontraditional training program.

Selected participants undertake a ten-month course of study with NLNS to prepare them for a closely supervised and monitored internship, followed by placement as a principal in a Focus School.  The Finding Opportunities; Creating Unparalleled Success (FOCUS) Schools program in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools puts resources where they’ll have a significant impact – in the schools where children need individual attention and extra support. http://www.cms.k12.nc.us/cmsschools/Documents/Focus%20Schools.pdf

The organization selects and trains 50 candidates to be leaders at some of CMS' lowest achieving schools. The participants will make a six-year commitment to the program and to the Charlotte community.
