2017 STEMersion for Teachers Results Report

Executive Summary:

STEMersion is a two-week, hands-on workshop opportunity for math, science, and Career and Technical Education teachers in the Charlotte area to take a first-hand look at why so many jobs require STEM skills in the workplace.

In 2017, 48 teachers spent two weeks visiting STEMersion partner sites. Teachers learned about the inner workings of the business and the importance of math and science skills from their employees. Business partners showed teachers the work environment and the practical use of formulas, theories and concepts taught within the classroom.

Results

  • Teachers Attended: 48 ( 24 high school, 18 middle school & 6 elementary )
  • Stipends: varied based on attendance; $800-$1000 per teacher
  • Schools Represented: 20 high schools, 15 middle schools & 5 elementary schools

Activities:
Common theme included STEM skills used at the business and industry.  Activities varied based on the specialty
